Animation part 2!! Last minute disision!!
Animation part 2
We spent all but about 3minutes doing iStop motion with our aliens last lesson. We had to come up with ideas for the alien to do, along with our original ideas. The longest part of the animation was getting the hand of the alien 'mover' out of shot before the recorder hit the button. We had to delete many shots as we had hit the button too quickly and there was a hand or a shoe in the shot. We also had many attempts of tipping the plastic tub over, either a hand was in the way or it just fell back on the floor. We fixed this prolblem by making the 'goo' top heavy so all it needed was a little push and it fell over.
The next problem was getting the rest of the 'goo' out of the tub. This was the most time consuming evelent of the whole iStop motion as it took ages to film!! But the result did look good!
Last minute disision
Near the end of the lesson we had a quick disision to add another little bit of live action, someone walks into the room where the aliens are, onto the end of our animation. This was done because we felt the alien should be seen quite quickly by a human, if we were making a full length feature film then it would then go on to the aliens becoming friends with the human who discovered them.

Editing!! Animation part 1!!
Editing
The editing of our live action film clips was longer than expected. We wanted to spend half an hour on it but that turned into an hour once we had, had a look at the live action sequences we had shot last lesson. We had done about 3 different takes of the corridor sequence, and had many attempts of the conversation, so we had alot more to edit than in the prelim task. But we did finish the editing of the live action and even managed to start on the iStop animation.
Animation part 1
We had to change the location of the box containing the 'goo' as the main filming room would have been too hard to keep clear during the animation stage, also we had not accounted for the need to attach the camera to a computer [during the planning stage we had looked over this problem]. We dicided to film the iStop animation sequence in our media studies room as this gave us the ability to link up the camera with the computer, and the room was a match for the original filming room. During this lesson we managed to film about 10seconds worth of film and get more of an idea of how the iStop animation would work with our idea of an alien coming alive!

First Filming Lesson!!!
Location
For the opening sequence we had two locations to choose from, outside or in a corridor. We chose the corridor as the camera jumped too much on the pavement outside.
The main filming room that we had booked to film in was already in use so we used the small reception area outside of it to film the live action. As the room was smaller than we wanted we had to be creative with our camera angles and where we positioned the camera.
Cast
We did manage to get two actors for the live action, only at the last minute! We also had to a slight problem of both of them being female, but as only MOLLY'S name was mentioned we did not have to change the script.

Script: The Homemade Alien!!
List of Characters: Jake Molly Alien Other class members (if possible)
Script JAKE is walking down the corridor. He stops at a door and opens it to then proceed into the classroom. He goes to the empty seat next to MOLLY. He sits down.
JAKE:
Hey Molly. How was your weekend?
MOLLY:
Yeah it was okay. What have you got there?
JAKE:
Oh this? I made this at home from a recipe I found on the internet. It's supposed to be Jelly...
MOLLY:
But it looks nothing like jelly! It doesn't even look edible!
JAKE:
Yeah I know especially because during science Ted put some weird chemicals in it for a joke. So I wouldn't eat it if I were you!
MOLLY:
Oh. (pause)
What's the time?
JAKE:
Oh man! We're gonna be late!
They leave the room in a hurry, mistakenly leaving behind the BOWL.

Room/Set!!, Casting!!
Room/Set
We have managed to obtain a music room for part of our children's film opening. This means that we have to consider whether we want the instruments, that are already in the room, to be in shot for not.
Casting
We are aiming to find some drama students to take part in the film opening. At the moment it has been hard to find students that have a free period at the time we want to film. We realize that many film producers and directors would have the same problems in finding available actors for their films, if they wanted certain actors for the film.
